We are currently accepting applications for a remote Technical Sales Manager. The position will support customers in the East and Midwest regions requiring 30% or more travel. The position will report to the VP of R&D.

JOB SUMMARY: Provides full-service technical and commercial sales support to consumer, packaging foods (CPG) accounts and regularly interacts with customers to determine needs. This position manages the daily execution of technical support for assigned accounts, which involves communicating regularly with account leads and interacting frequently with customers on projects, process, and problem solving throughout product development stages and post-production. A strong technical and scientific knowledge of confectionery products is needed to educate, promote, and sell products by demonstrating, discussing, and designing new products with the customers' unique requirements in mind. Manages both project and commercial activity building cross-functional relationships that, over time, results in volume growth.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Communicate with customers to determine product and project needs.
  • Collaborate with Research and Development (R&D) scientists to customize products that quickly meet the customers' needs.
  • Manage project work through customer relationship management (CRM) software.
  • Initiates early project development pricing requests and communicates pricing to customers.
  • Communicate directly with CQC's Operations, Procurement, Research and Development (R&D), and Quality regarding projects, applications, specifications, and manufacturing issues.
  • Provide customers with technical support and assistance regarding the use of coatings.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with customers through cross-functional contacts.
  • Lead or assist with external technical issues at customer facilities and comanufacturers.
  • Provide front line support or leadership to oversee, prepare and present technical support as well as customer presentations that cover topics from introductions to innovation to technical training.
  • Support account lead in commercial meetings with Procurement to negotiate and manage pricing, contracts, and orders.
  • Perform all tasks assigned by the supervisor, while following all company, safety, and quality policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular attendance at work.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • B.S. in Food Science or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of R&D food industry experience, ideally related to confectionery or chocolate. CPG experience in product development is a plus.
  • Previous experience servicing customers and/or business-to-business sales preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Must have acceptable driving record and valid driver's license
