EHS Manager

Our EHS Manager will serve in a lead role with responsibility for the development and execution of EHS programs, strategies, policies and compliance across the business unit. In addition, this role is responsible for the leadership, coaching and mentoring of their local EHS Team. The EHS Manager will be expected to participate in the safety committee, actively engage Team Members, perform site specific audits, participate in 3rd party auditing, conduct and record training information. The EHS Manager will also be a critical link in the Workman's Compensation process. This role is part of a larger team dedicated to protecting our Team Members and furthering the profession.

  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders to drive risk reduction and compliance across the operation.
  • Build relationships with leadership, operations, and floor level workforce
  • Develop and implement workplace Environmental, Health and Safety procedures and programs.
  • Oversee compliance with local, state, federal environmental and safety regulations, industry standards and internal policies.

The position is office based, with requirements to spend time in each of our production areas. The production area environment varies based on job position. You will be exposed to all weather elements, dust, weld fumes, gases, loud noise, heavy machinery, and moving mechanical parts.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or equivalent
  • 5+ years' experience preferred
  • Strong personal skills and communication skills
  • ASP/CSP desired, but not required
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and policies
  • Self-motivator and takes initiative
  • Great problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Knowledge and experience of OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, NIOSH, ANSI, guidelines and compliance
  • Knowledge of the Spanish language is a plus
  • ISO 14001 knowledge

Essential Functions:

  • Drive an effective EHS culture by working with cross functional partners to integrate EHS policy and standards in a way that drives compliance and supports operational value.
  • Fosters an environment of continuous improvement within manufacturing operations.
  • Lead investigations for reported hazards and injuries with the intent to be proactive improvement of hazard controls and programs.
  • Conduct and/or monitor periodic workplace safety audits and discuss the results with management.
  • Drives risk reduction and identifies mitigation strategies as needed.
  • Keep current with all reporting standards and prepare reports reflecting Company accident and injury experience and recommend alternatives to strengthen accident control measures.
  • Work cross functionally with internal departments to review EHS performance, compliance, and open concerns.

  • Communication and Training Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with employees at all levels, deliver training sessions, and create informative materials.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Working closely with cross-functional teams, safety committees, and management to ensure a cohesive and effective EHS program. Building relationships plays a key role in EHS success.
  • Continuous Improvement: Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and staying updated on changing EHS regulations, best practices, process changes, and industry trends.
  • Self-Motivator: demonstrates the ability to critical decisions to hit deadlines in a timely manner, stays organized, and manages time effectively.
  • Teaching, Coaching and Mentoring: Demonstrates the ability to not only lead self but also to lead up and down the organization through teaching, coaching and mentoring both leadership and those working for and around you.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This role has supervisory responsibility upon hire.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is highly active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The Team Member may have to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Travel:

Travel in this role will be minimal.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance:

Must be able to pass EVerify.
