Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

As a Machine Operator the incumbent should possess the skills, ability, knowledge and willingness to perform any task within the value stream requested by management with limited supervision, oversight or guidance. In addition, should be able and willing to train less experienced operators on any respective process, operations, quality issues and/or general operating guidelines. This position is 40 hours in 4 days. M-Th. Starting on first shift to be trained then moving to second shift.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Actively participate and engage in Department and Company Lean activities driving business improvement ideas, quality enhancements, productivity improvements, safety updates or other areas of Lean including 5S, Kaizen events, etc.
  • Set up and operate 4-Slides including Verticals, Horizontals, Nilson and DDK work centers. Additional responsibilities to include but not limited to are Coring, Rod Cutting and Flattening of wire as required.
  • Must be able to read and understand the AS400 system.
  • Responsible for the inspection and maintenance of all tooling required to produce the finished parts per customer specifications. Take responsibility to notify Maintenance / Engineering and complete paperwork for tooling requirements.
  • Weigh out and account for scrap generated throughout the production process. Take jobs to shipping as appropriate.
  • Check job specifications to perform the required packaging to ensure appropriate methods and procedures have been performed and necessary quality requirements have been met.
  • All other tasks as assigned by his/her Supervisor/Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Work in a Manufacturing environment is a must.
  • Good communications skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, work independently and meet deadlines.

EDUCATION

  • Position requires a High School education/GED with some experience in a manufacturing environment.
